I love that picture.

The allegory premise itself can also lead to internal strife i find as we all maybe look for deeper meaning in things. When all that was intended was to entertain.
In 500 years time people will look back at our contemporary literature and visual entertainment and i wonder if man will yet again create another religion on the back of these. Imagine 'The church of the latter day Hobbits' or God forbid 'Orthodox Friday the 13ths'.
I thank Zeus for the power of free thought.

(Of course i also take what lessons i can draw upon for myself) :)

Quite so, Sirrah! If they are going to fashion some new-fangled churches, perhaps the 'Orthodox Greedy, Murderous Clowns' would be more to your liking? Oh.... wait! The Thatcherites aren't in power any longer. Well...... there went THAT idea....

A clear, cold shiver went through me! M. Gilkin could also be a poet of great metaphysical insight.

Bravo, Dr., and we welcome your happy return.

Thank you for your gentle and perceptive insights, Herr Algabal, which I always treasure. It's such a refreshing change to sip the sweet nectar of your words, rather than to have to choke down more of the common swill that passes for 'discourse' these days. Please remember always that you are very much appreciated!
