.NET Framework 3.5 incorporates 2 and 3 into the one framework.
You still need 1.1 and it's service packs if you run any older stuff that still requires it.

Wow, You mean Mucrosoft have woken up and done something intelligent!!! So, You'd have to ask why not put 1.1 stuff in as well?
Personally, I wouldn't have any of it on the system if I had the choice, but seems that standalone programming, like in linux, is vanishing out of windows as well. In the past, it was to use all the native dlls, then you started seeing VB dlls with the apps and now, full installable libraries that more and more things want to use!
That's fine until you get situations like I described, and some rogue app puts garbage entries in the add/remove dbase!
Now, there's a lovely thing for a virus to do!!! I'm amazed someone hasn't thought of that by now!
