You had me going. I too, thought it was Cuddy until the very end. I like the idea that maybe Rachel has known about the House/Cuddy fallout all this time. It's so heartbreaking and yet this makes complete sense that Rachel would be the last one to believe in him if only a little bit.

I personally think given everything that happened during his short but colorful presence in her life, she'd not only remember, but hold onto those memories. And I don't think the elder Cuddy could ever truly seal off that portion of her life and of her psyche, no matter how hard she tried.
