Just so some of you know...

Those of you in other countries may not be aware that my home town has been hit by some pretty severe weather today.

The disruption is astounding, and the flooding remarkable.

Thankfully, it's nuisance and not a serious threat.

I feel your pain/annoyance. I hope y'all are all alright and nothing too seriously bad happens. I'd say "nothing bad" but judging from the pics, looks like some nasty stuff has already occurred.

Thankfully, there have only been a couple of deaths, and those were due to either incredible stupidity or random circumstances. But that photo of flooding? They swore it couldn't happen again. Although, considering the amount of rain that fell- OK, I can forgive them for not having enough in place to deal with THAT.

Yikes. Stay safe. That looks like what happened in Florida this week as a result of Tropical Storm Debby.

It was two or three hours of continuous thunderstorm. Wet is ot the word. It wasn't savage, like a hurricane or whater; the best way to describe it is relentless.

Sounds like some of the Pineapple Expresses (storms that come up from the area of Hawaii and aim like a firehose at the Pacific Northwest) we get in the wintertime, except that they generally don't involve lightning. Some of them are warm enough (relatively speaking) that we end up with the mountain snowpack partially melting and adding to the flooding problems.

Relentless. Yes. Water is one of the most relentless things on the planet, I think.
