Here's Merry Belle, lounging about like the little khaleesi that she is. Doesn't she look so comfortable? I'm beyond happy that she's setting in so well!

Yes! Me, too! They're not buddy-buddy quite yet, but they more than tolerate each other, which is more than I would have bargained for. Bruster is definitely jealous of the attention given to the cat (I'm still pretty sure he's confused as to what a "cat" is), but he certainly hasn't acted aggressive in the least even though he definitely has the size and weight advantage on her. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that he's submitted to her dominance - at least in my bedroom ^_^

I've never had the opportunity to have two pets at once, so I'm not sure how that ends up working. That's not entirely true, since I had a gerbil and a dachshund when I was in high school. There was no mingling of the species in that case. Toot (the giant dachshund) viewed Fido T. Gerbil as a protein snack. Fido lived in his cage on top of the record cabinet in my bedroom. Toot would sit up and beg in front of the cage and Fido would panic and bury himself in the shredded stuff.

When the time comes that my mother crosses over to the other side, I've promised Miss Daisy that I will get her a sibling. There are plenty of rescued dachshunds in need of a good spoiling. Daisy lived with other dogs. She was abandoned with them, tied up outside a vet's office in Iowa. So, I know she has gotten along with dogs before.

Oh no! Poor Fido! That must have been terrifying. Big, mean ol' dachshund (hee). One of my best friends loves dachshunds, and whenever I get her a birthday or Christmas present, I try to find her something "hotdog" related. And then I end up thinking of you, as well :)
