whoa. well, I guess you just sort of let it be in the universe's hands at this point, no? Since there's nothing else you can do? Whatever happens, is what was meant to be!
Thanks. Yeah, it really isn't at all in my control, so I'm trying not to dwell on it too terribly much.
I had a pretty literal dream the other day though. In it I was dragged away from my desk at work by a couple of federal agents. Hopefully that won't be how all this *actually* goes down... :)
Sorry, hon; hope that this works out in your favor.
Just out of curiosity, though, because it's something I'm unclear about -- is there a downside to getting an H-1B if you ultimately decided to return to England?
To answer your question, though, there really isn't a downside to getting a visa now if I decide to go to England eventually. It does cost my company and me a certain amount of money to apply, so it is an investment. Because of that, there is a tacit expectation that I stick with my current employer for a certain amount of time. But if I were to leave and then at some point choose to come back to the US, then I would have to reapply for a whole new visa with a whole new employer.
I actually don't know any more than that. I guess I should look into it... :)
good luck!! when will you know if your application will be picked? also, seriously just try to take comfort in the fact that there's nothing you can do about it, it's completely out of your hands so just relax. and it won't be so bad if you have to come to england sooner than expected... :) that's me, being selfish. also, i'm really sorry i didn't end up calling but i was pretty much never home until late at night, this was a very exhausting trip. i'll give you a call from london, though! ps this is andrea.
thanks...yeah, they say i'll probably hear about the visa in "several weeks." also it looks like the numbers aren't nearly as dire as they first sounded. but it still is not 100%. anyway, whatever happens, i'll just roll with the punches. :)
oh, and to change the subject a little, my mom wants to know if the wedding date is rock solid sept. 8. is it?
rock-solid, no, which is why invites haven't gone out yet. we're still waiting to hear if the church we want is available. incredibly, there appears to be only one person who can tell us this and book the church for us, and he has been on vacation for several weeks and then was ill last week so completely unavailable. on the bright side, i suppose anyone else who might want to get married there would have equal difficulty contacting the church, so it's probably still available. but, let's continue this on email...

so considering the current state of the government, that seems a very reasonable dream!
(sorry, that probably wasn't helpful... :) )
