Snape,
As I received a terribly low score on my Potions exam, Professor Slughorn has 'suggested' that I find someone to tutor me on the subject. I've exhausted all other options, and I was wondering if you would be willing to do me this favour. Just so I don't completely fail the year.
I'd pay you for your time, of course. So please give it some

Is that why you talked to me the other day? I'd be happy to help I might want to at least try being honest.
He mentioned something similar to me; that is, that there were students that "might desire my services, what with my knowledge of the subject being so expansive." Ugh. At least you aren't laying it on as thick as he did.
How much? We'll talk about the money later; it doesn't really matter to me. Let me know when you want the help, and see if you can come up with some place where we won't be disturbed by the imbeciles that parade around as your housemates. Just make sure there are others present; people will get the wrong idea

Wait, you’re actually going to help me? Maybe I don’t give you enough credit. But you are a Slytherin.
You’re lucky that he flatters you. I can assure you that being on Slughorn’s bad side is hardly pleasurable.
Are you free this coming weekend? The Library is generally empty on Friday, after classes are dismissed, but I’m not picky about the time.
Thank you for this.

There's a fine line between flattering and total suck-up. But I doubt he really has a "bad" side, not like McGonagall. Even if he hates you, seems like he'll still at least be polite.
Do I look like I'd have anything to do? Did you forget who you're talking to? That's fine. Meet right after classes? I'll be waiting.
No groveling Don't mention it. Seriously, don't.
