Lunch that afternoon had begun in the same way as it had every other day that week - every other day that month, that year, and so on. Hara always felt better when her daily routine could go uninterrupted. When she had a good book to read and a plate of food to pick at distractedly whenever someone tried to talk to her. Yet, even with those things comfortably in place, the hour had not gone as she had expected. She made the mistake, after absorbing a particularly amusing paragraph, of instinctively looking up from her reading material. She looked up only to see a flustered Severus Snape rush out of the Great Hall.
And suddenly the book she was reading failed to interest her. The food on her plate looked unappealing. The chatter of her housemates that she had previously been successful in drowning out began to irritate her.
Did you hear that Rosemary Tibbles has a crush on Filch? That Morton from Ravenclaw fell off his broom and sprained his you-know-what?It just so happened that Hara decided to head to the library then, desperately

So far, it was working. Breathe in and out and soon the humiliation would be gone. Already, Severus could feel the heat in his neck recede, he could feel his thoughts cooling off, and in moments, he felt better, less awkward, less infuriated with himself for reacting the way he did when he saw the girl. Surely, he figured, he would need to work on that feeling. That awkward, burning embarrassment that came whenever he watched her too much, took her in, wondered what she was thinking. "Stupid," he muttered below a whisper, his lips furling into a twisted grimace. It was like he couldn't control it anymore, he couldn't control himself when she was around. Whenever he wasn't focused on his work, his thoughts always somehow found their way back to Hara. What she was doing. If she was busy. The taste of her lips and the scent of her hair. It was a stupid thing to do - it

When he finally looked up and acknowledged her, Hara felt momentarily stunned. The bubble of confidence she had built up upon approaching him there, alone, in the library, seemed to burst. For a moment, she forgot why she had so deliberately confronted him. Forgot entirely what she meant to say. For a moment, she could only stare at the boy that sat across from her

(( I apologise for the suck factor on this one. ))
It was like sitting on trial, wherever that was, somewhere in the bowels of the Ministry of Magic. It was like he had been caught red handed, totally guilty, no backing out of whatever it was. Severus, as he watched the girl's confidence waning, felt a sudden wave of guilt, frustration, embarrassment, and everything he had come to the library to ignore. And she had followed. And she had asked, and it most likely made her feel as uncomfortable as it made him feel, it must have
