Sweet Victory

It took a great long while to accomplish, but Jack had finally done it. He had incorporated Pearl's assistance in driving the Mexican insane. She had to seem to turn Jack away. While he could have simply asked for the ship's assistance, Jack went for the more reliable tactic of angering her outright until she refused to share his bed. All it took ( Read more... )

Pearl didn't know why Jack started a fight with her. It wasn't in his usually annoying way that means he's just teasing her, liking the way she gets angry at him, the way she looks when she rages, throws things at him. Jack likes that. He misses the storms the Caribbean brings him. But after the raging he made no move to sooth it. Terrible thing that he is.
She heard him with El when she came back. Listened at the door to the angry grunting and pounding.

She still avoids Jack, keeping to herself. Pearl slides along the hallways and corners of the new ship, knowing it like she knows herself though she hates it. Only being seen out of the corner of Jack and Bastiaan's eyes. Disappearing when the boy calls for her. Pearl seems to be haunting the ship but when Jack goes to land she follows, making it clear what exactly she's playing ghost to. Black hair blows behind a palm tree, foot steps appear in the sand... Pearl isn't seen but she's there waiting for Jack to speak to her. Or just watch him be alone.

He knows she's there. Jack knows that Pearl's been avoiding him and just why. The problem is, he hasn't come across just the right thing to say to ease away what he's done just yet. He's more bothered that, in the end, he hurt her for almost no reason at all. That won't go over well.

He glances over at the girl hiding from him and lays back in the sand, folding his arms under his head. He looks out at his boat and sighs.

"She's a terrible thing to look at, that ship."

leaves rustle softly as Pearl leans against the trunk hiding most of her. Jack is trying to make it up to her. Maybe later she'll get him back for what he did to her. Maybe she wont. For now she just listens to whatever he has to say without anger.

"Aye."

"Doesn't cut at all the impressive sillouete the Black Pearl could cast against the setting sun. Even with bare poles, the Pearl was a magnificent figure to behold."

Jack lays back, taking his eyes off of the gleaming white yacht. He truly doesn't care to look at the thing. It's comfortable and has many amenities he would never have even dreamed of, but it's hardly a ship in his eyes.

"No other ship could match her. Certainly not that mockery."
