Then she steps into the hall, and curses the mansion in all seven languages she speaks, off and running for their room, seeing again and again that look on his face as he turned away.
She finds the door unlocked, but still fumbles with the knob. Works much better when you wipe the tears away, Keehl. She dashes at her eyes and flings the door open.*
Mail, don't! Don't go, it was a goddamn room, and- *Her hurry carried her halfway to him, but she stops, knotting her hands together.* It wasn't real, I'm sorry!

Look, Mel, it's fine- I get it, if it was just too long for you, that's fine- and you've always had a thing for L, I know...
[Mail shakes his head, fighting the sting of tears that's starting in the corners of his eyes. Covering his face, he starts past her, for the door, not intending to look at her- he can't look at her right now-]

*She catches at his sleeve. Her face already feels hot and blotchy; Mel does not cry prettily.*

[Mail pauses, but he just keeps shaking his head, as the tears start coming on, and he desperately tries to wipe them away, flushing more as his face heats up.]
I- It didn't seem like a trick room- You... You were really into him! As you should be- he's probably some really cool crime fighter, and I'm just- I'm just- [He hiccups quietly right then, pulling away to get closer to the door.]
