I kind of hope some distant American cousin with a taste for adventure comes and whisks Edith off her feet, despite her thinking he's crazy and ridiculous etc...

Thanks! I'd settle for a writer of some sort, I think she needs someone who gets her, but is able to expand her norms.

I've always thought Mary should become a writer (a bit OT lol). Edith...I think her husband should be a bit dorky or socially awkward, but with a big heart, and funny, and possibly really really rich. Maybe someone who owns a car factory. Maybe one day she'll have to save Downton with her husband's big money, because with the Depression coming I don't know how the estate will do...mh.

I'm excited for some relatives from across the pond to make waves in the house with their American ways. Oh, the anticipation of Cousin Violet and Cora's mother going at each other with snarky comments! :)

However, I am slightly wary. How well it works will all depend on casting, casting, casting. PLEEEEEEASE, DA powers that be, please cast people who fit seamlessly into the DA universe. I'm afraid there will be too many big-name Hollywood actors clamoring for the roles ...

They've been good about not letting big hollywood types be on the show, and casting in general. I think they're going to keep up with casting newer faces, faces who have done things, but more indy or not well known. I may not trust this show with my emotional well being, but casting, they haven't gone wrong in my book yet.

Two words: Peter. Gordon. (a.k.a. fake!Patrick) :shudder:

But yes, as far as recurring/regulars...they've done an excellent job. :D

Indeed, I think it was the acting and the makeup that made me cringe more than even the storyline. I still would have found the storyline ludicrous, but it wouldn't have been so ... comical.

Ooh I'm so excited. Because ngl, I was having so much fun imagining Mary and Anna in NYC. Oh the culture clashes! But now we'll get to have them AND a M/M wedding so yay!

Can't imagine who the other person/couple getting married is. Would love to see Edith find someone, but I thought the third series was only covering 18 months, 1920-1921, so that seems a short amount of time for someone to meet someone, fall in love, have some ridiculous contrived obstacles, not speak for two years, meet again whilst both engaged to other people, and then have lots of people die in order for them to be together again. Love in true Downton style.

;P

In fact, I don't understand the second wedding because 18 months are such a short time for a show like Downton Abbey - how can you have a whole lovestory without a war in the middle of it? LOL.
It'll probably be a last minute "someone is on the death bed" kind of wedding - again. Or a shotgun wedding omg more babies.

Or a shotgun wedding omg more babies.

Carson is pregnant with Mosely's baby. Dun dun dun. This season on Downton Abbey.

OR we find out that Gwen was really Carson's daughter. Her mother, the American lady's maid of Grandmama, gave her away. Now she's back, and the story is out, so of course Carson has to marry her. And that's when Downton became The Bold and the Beautiful.

Correct me, if I'm wrong, but did Anna and Mr. Bates have a church wedding? Could that be a possibilty for the second wedding ( cause Matthew and Mary HAVE to marry)? If they haven't it could be that Mr. Bates is (hopefully) proven innocent, comes back to Downton and he and Anna marry to mark a new (and happy!!!!) start of their new life.
But maybe that's really just wishful thinking of me!

Yay, that's what I thought (but considering that I discovered DA just one month ago (because you can't watch it on free-tv over here) I couldn't be entirely sure).
So, yay can keep on hoping!
