I love this line, even though I'm not sure I agree that this is something that Carson would say. It's a really interesting mental picture, imagining him not only saying this but saying it softly, because it's such a bold thing to say. Much more so than "I'll miss you".

Anyhow, lovely drabble. I really like the way you wrote Mrs Hughes, and I like the timeframe for the first kiss.

I so adore this. Specially for the way you've caught the whirlwind of emotions Elsie was going through. The way she reacted to his announcement is just perfect. She thought she was just second best once again, but I'm so glad Charles showed her she's much more important to him. Looking forward to more kisses.
