Stolen Words and Posting Smut (cross posted from my blog)

My friend's fanfic A Shadow of What Was (Bleach fandom, yaoi pairings, SMUT warning) is 94 chapters long. She's been working on it for years. She has over five hundred reviews and a 5-star rating.

Her story has been stolen. Some...person is posting it on fanfiction.net under her own name. Despite the fact she wrote not a word of it. Despite the fact ( Read more... )

I've been posting smut to fanfiction.net for years. They never seem to do anything about it.

But, I'm disgusted someone is ripping off your friends work. I'm going to go over there and report that bitch right now too. Maybe if enough people harass them, they'll do something about it. If they don't, I'll be seriously thinking about taking my own stuff down too.

Thanks so much! It's really upsetting her--this story is very close to her heart.

....I'm so tempted to write really bad smut just for this. (it'd be bad fanfic too, coz I've never really tried that at all)

Okay, seriously, that is NEVER OKAY! D:<

I like the idea of a smut drabble challenge, too, though I don't know if I'd participate...even though my RPS would fit in nicely with their "No RPF" rule. >_>

I suspect the FF.net mods stopped caring years ago. :/

My friend pointed out that the advertisers probably care about smut, considering that ff.net cleared out the smut in order to get more advertising. (One would think.)

I dunno--I've never seen ads there. Doesn't everyone use ad-blocking?

I haven't seen them in a while...but I've been using ad-blockers for a while. XD And they have (or used to have) an option on the site that let you block the ads for three days.

...All of this is reminding me of how much I loathe the Pit of Voles...>_>

I've posted plenty of smut on ff.net, they don't seem to really care. Which is fine with me. Plagiarism is satanic, though. Plagiarists need stringing up.
