Anna giggles.

"Oh, you can put me down if you want, cheri." Ground or truck, she won't mind either way. "I just like it when you pick me up."

"Really?" He sets her down on the truck as he asks this. "Why?"

"I don't know."

Safely seated, she leans forward to kiss him on the cheek again.

"I'm allowed to be pointlessly girly sometimes, aren't I?"

He chuckles. "I guess so. It doesn't really seem you, though."

[downsidedarling]

"That's because I hide it as often as possible."

Wry smile.

"Doesn't mean I don't get all giggly on the inside."

Clark sits beside her. "Is that so. So, like, when do you get all giggly inside, exactly?"

[downsidedarling]

Dammit, Clark, you're making her blush again.

"Um... well, when you pick me up, for one."

Restating old facts is a surefire way to avoid saying embarrassing things about yourself!

So is leaning on your boyfriend's shoulder and snuggling up to him. Cutely.

Anna is wise in these matters, truly she is.

Clark considers that briefly. "So, you like it when I get all he-man, but you can't stand it when I want you to be careful and not put yourself in situations where you could be hurt and you know what I mean by that."

Then he eyes her. "I'm trying to figure out how that works. Physical dominance is okay, but emotional protectiveness isn't."

"...That about sums it up, actually."

Big grin.

"Nobody ever said I had to be consistent in my beliefs, did they?"

He snorts. "I don't suppose you've realized that I tend to be the exact opposite of that, most of the time."

Anna giggles.

"Yeah, it pretty much came across."

She kisses him on the cheek again.

"Really, though..."

Tiny sigh.

"I probably should try to get a little better about the emotional protectiveness thing."

It's evidently difficult for her to say that. You can tell by the shifty movements and bucketload of qualifiers.

"Now, see, that was an outwardly giggle. This might be progress," he grins.

"Yeah, well, you know I only do it because I care about you, right?"

"I know."

This is a good time for more snuggles!

He shrugs. "I figured, but I thought I should at least say it once in a while. Just in case."

"Merci, cheri."

She leans her head on his shoulder.

"It's good to be reminded."

He nods and is silent for a few moments.

"You're really sure you're okay?"
