"Okay." Clark stands as well and motions for her to follow him into the kitchen proper. "This is different than heat vision, obviously. The first couple of times it happened to me it was almost like it was triggered just by doing some kind of physical activity, but I've never really been certain if that had anything to do with it. Anyway, where heat vision is more of a burning feeling, this is just kind of a strain, if that makes any sense."
He shrugs and gives her a small smile. "I pretty much do it just by thinking I'd like to see through something. Once you get control of just getting it to start when you want, then you can vary the degree of how strong it gets."
"Yeah," she agrees irritably, closing her eyes again and trying not to berate herself for crying out. This isn't Downside, after all, and nobody cares how stoic she is except herself.
The tiniest of frowns creases her foreheads.
This time she manages to neither exclaim nor open her eyes. She does, however, lose it after the first few seconds and shake her head ruefully, sighing.

"Not everything's going to be that easy."

Logically speaking she should be able to take the same peculiar feeling that accompanies the vision and apply it to the hearing.
Logically speaking.
Right?
Apparently not. After the requested minute, she sighs and closes her eyes, rubbing them despondently for a moment.
With an astonished squeak, Anna claps her hands to her ears.
"Gyaaah!"
It's the closest she's gotten to 'ow' in several thousand years. That was startling. But as soon as she opens her eyes, it cuts out again.

"Harder than it looks."

"Merci, cheri." She steps forward to give him a kiss on the cheek.

Yep, she's forgotten the flying.
Shh.
"Thanks, Clark." She kisses his cheek. "For being so sweet and helpful."

And then, with a secretive little smile, she adds, "Back to my place?"
Clark should recognize this look. She's worn it before, many, many times.

"Uh, yeah, about that. I'm not really sure that's a good idea."

"Oh, come on. What's the worst that could happen?"
