The thing is, he believes he's smarter BECAUSE HE IS. There are people I believe I am smarter than, and those who are smarter than me. Rodney is just smarter than most people, and if they'd just accept their lot and act accordingly things'd go much better ;)
What bothers me about that scene is that SHE'S THE HEAD DOCTOR ON A MILITARY BASE. Sure, she may not have had the entire galaxy hanging in the balance before (oh, wait, except for when Michael was releasing the Hoffan drug, so she really has), but she has lives hanging in the balance every damn day. The fact that she's this whiny and insecure just means that she hasn't adapted to Pegasus, not that she's humble. Woolsey's been there over a year shorter than she has, and he's already better suited to Atlantis than she is.
Do I think Rodney's sweet when he's trying to be supportive? Yes. But I honestly don't think they have very good chemistry together, and any goodwill I might have had toward the relationship ended when the writers started shoving it down our throats and being rude to fans who objected.
Yes, I hated the Rodney bashing too, it brings down a whole episode, though the little 'Only when he's awake' conversation almost made up for it, because John knows very, very well what Rodney's like when he's sleeping. XD
The Rodney-bashing is the one thing I hate about the Jeannie character, and to have Keller/everyone else start doing it too is ridiculous. At least when John teases him, he's joking, you know? He doesn't actually believe that Rodney doesn't deserve Keller; he just can't understand why Keller is with Rodney when she can't appreciate him as himself like John does.
That is the one thing I don't like about Jeannie too! I dare say many Rodney fans share this. And that is one of the many, great things I love about the relationship between John and Rodney. John acts like the rest, he teases him and yells at him when required, but he's also friends with Rodney. He knows he's not just the caustic exterior but (like Shrek would say) has layers, many layers. And he's one of the few people who has actually cared to see past that exterior Rodney shows to everyone.

(Because John has intimate knowledge of what Rodney says in his sleep, don't you know.)
But of course! ;) And pretty IAWTC to everything you said. And, as for Keller, all I could think was, "Wow. Nice tits, Jennifer." Sorry, but they were right there! XP
They were nice! And I'm bummed, because I think I could have really liked the Keller character if the writers hadn't made her the Mary Sue who falls for the insecure geek (a.k.a. the writers' self-insertion).
