Exactly! If you make it all about fate and destiny and finding The One, then you absolve yourself of all responsibility in actually making the relationship work.
The boy and I didn't break up because we weren't The One for each other; we broke up because our differences would have made us miserable eventually. I also see the opposite, where women pass up amazing guys because they're not Mr. Right. Hell, maybe it wouldn't have worked out, but how can they dismiss them before they've even tried?

I don't even understand why people stay in relationships that make them miserable. It's not like you get bonus points for not being the one to end things!
