FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, I NEED ADVICE. *takes breath*

okay. Here's the Deal. I am looking for advice on proper applications for ripping DVD's (...ones I already own, for merely backup purposes, of course) and converting DVDs/files/whatever to proper iPod format [aka: .mp4 or .mov, I guess] (using said DVD's I already legally own, of ( Read more... )

I hear that FFMpegX is the best option for format conversion. This is only hearsay, though, because I've never been able to get it to produce actual files (I always ended up with things that claim to be converted files but were 0kb in size)

So I'm not actually much help.

I am, sadly, of no help. :( My iPod is 4th-gen, so I haven't had the need to rip yet. Try posting in Apple comms, or checking the memories there -- macosx is usually great for this stuff!

...unfortunately, macosx was my first stop. Why is this so hard? Everyone talks about ripping DVDs and how easy it is, and converting to iPod format should be easy as shit. BLAH.
