You should NOT buy ground nutmeg, you should buy WHOLE nutmegs and a little grater.

Worse: the ground parmesan my father used to buy in little plastic tubs in the 1970s. It might as well have been ground Formica, but for the dreadful odour.

This is why I grow herbs. That - and not liking nutmeg - avoids this kind of confusion.
