Support request 611095:

No mechanism exists for permanently disabling the navigation strip

I'm aware of how to remove the navigation strip on my own journal. I've read FAQ 264, so pointing me at it once more won't be helpful.

I've read the recent post over in suggestions about how the existence or non-existence of the navigation bar doesn't respect ( Read more... )

It doesn't help with the stupidity of Livejournal turning this back on, but if you never want to see the nav strip on any journals, there are instructions for setting up a Greasemonkey extension/custom style sheet here.

That works very well if I'm running Firefox or IE6 on XP, for example.

But that's not where the problem is -- the problem is that the navigation strip breaks the browser on the handheld. On the desktop, it's merely an irritation.

And I don't know of a mechanism to override CSS styles in pocket IE under Windows Mobile 5.

What they really need to do is make a ?format=light for LJs themselves, as an addition to their LJ Mobile stuff that makes entries more readable.
