Oh, no! Not a cockroach! Those things scare the crap out of me. If it were me, I wouldn't have handled the situation as well as you did. Ugh...cockroaches *shudder*

It's so sad to see that you'll be leaving Japan soon. It's been a fun ride, being able to read your adventures in the Land of the Rising Sun.

This is Japan, there are many cockroaches. It is a sad state of affairs, but it is the truth.

I'm glad you've enjoyed reading about them, though they will soon be at their end.

The convection toaster oven takes less time because it gets hotter and moves the air around, the problem being that sometimes it cooks a little too quickly, the bottom can burn on things if you're not careful.

In either case, toaster oven or convection toaster/microwave, always cover with foil (unless you're using the microwave function, obviously), and check on things, especially with the convection oven. Rotate things in the convection oven, too.
