I work in TV/Media and am used to anywhere from 15-30 second spots (I write scripts for those). I liked scenes 2 and 4, for workablility in TV form, though 4 is a bit too CGIish, (5 is way more so), and might come off as video-gamey - which might and might not hit the target you are aiming for in demographic (do video gamers also read books these days - or do they just let the games tell the story?). The first scene will loose their attention (but it works great for internet viewing). Scene three, again great for internet, but not quite doing it for me in the tv realm. It's a great trailer, with great appeal, and totally makes me want to get the book - but if you are putting this on tv, I'd stick with scenes 2 or 4.
Thank you so much for your input! Your insight seems spot on to me (I worked in TV many, many years ago...back before everyone had a computer on the desk.)
Actually the video gamers market is a consideration -- I think they might be a good audience for these books. They do read books, as long as it's connected to their kind of world, I think. Given the vampire wars, the love story, and the epic quest aspect, these books will most likely appeal to people who enjoy those kinds of books and games, as well as to paranormal readers, fantasy fans and horror fans.
This was a very thoughtful response, and I appreciate it a great deal -- you've given me and the creative team on this something to think about.
If gamers are a good part of your demographic, I'd say put together two spots - one with something along scene 2's guidelines...the other with a CGI montage that would appeal to your gamers. Either one would be a hit.
I personally find the kneeling girl with the creepy eye the most compelling. I think it's got the best quality of the shots, and is a little mysterious and haunting. It makes me want to know more. I'd pick up book three from it.

Anton -
Thanks for your input.
What I'm doing from all this is tallying everybody's vote, and then passing this all to the production/creative team for the commercial. They'll cut one or two versions of the commercial based on what we hear back from viewers.
So I appreciate it. That's COSProductions.com's vision of the Plague Maiden/ashling from the trilogy in that scene.
Once the final commercial is chosen, that goes out the week the book hits the bookstores.
I'm very excited about this, and the whole process is a lot of fun -- particularly since, at this point, more than 800 people between the various sites where the video is playing have offered their picks of the right scene for the commercial -- and there are four more days to get input.
Good to hear from you, as always. I hope everything is going great.

Not bad, not bad.. just turned in my final line edits to Jessica at Ace... manuscripts out for quotes (which terrifies me), steadily churning out book two...
I was thinking of making a parody commercial of my own first book, clumbsily acted out ...
Each time I look at them, I see something different. I think the fourth is maybe the best, but I like the third one, too. I have no experience in television other than watching it, though. *grins*
That's all the experience anyone needs. Thanks for your input! The fourth scene is Pythia atop the temple at Aztlanteum, and the third is Enora, who will become the Queen of Wolves by the third novel, aptly titled The Queen of Wolves.
Thanks for coming by and giving your thoughts -- much appreciated.
