ok so me and some of the other bandies were talking the other day and decided that "bandie" is a term much like "the n word" in that its ok if we call each other that but if an outsider does they usually mean it as an insult. but when we insult each other its full of love?

I totally agree. I'll gladly call myself and all other band friends bandies but don't call us bandies to our faces. you know how we do.
