Shameless: [Spoiler (click to open)]For crying out loud (sort of literally), can someone throw an Emmy on Emmy Rossum already? It has her name on it and everything! And when she cries it hurts my soul and makes me want to pack my bags and fly to the States to track her down and hug her, and I don't know which state I would end up going to if I gave in to that urge- She's

Agree with what you're saying. Feeling that there is maaaaaybe some hope for Andrea waking up. If she really got how the governor was she would poke his other eye without hesitation buuut maybe she might just escape the brainwash. Although brainwash is too kind because she was blind from the moment she came to the town.
Also the new people don't have prior knowledge like we do. So all they have seen so far is a town that let's them stay there and gives them food so they can't be called stupid yet. I'm hoping the couple will see the truth soon and join the prison gang after rick apologises to them and/or he finally gets dethroned, and I agree that those whiners would fit in perfectly in the fascist state so they can stay there and get killed in the final stand-off for all I care.
I wouldn't hold my breath tbh. In that scene where she gets the knife I was all "yeah, this is boring, there is zero chance of her actually doing it. Yep, see, I was right.", maybe she will come around eventually but it will be too little too late. She certainly wasn't brainwashed, she got the warning signs and chose to ignore them.
True, they don't have prior knowledge, all they have is the first impression of two people they just met in the woods and then the Governor and his eye-patch and his whole smarmy ingratiating schtick, and their first reaction is "Where do we sign up?". I get that they're tired and looking for a permanent camp, but given that they've undoubtedly run in to crazy people before (like maybe that nutjob in the prison who shouts at walls) you'd think they'd be a liiiittle wary.
