Aww, appearantly Sweden won ESC! Now I'm a bit sad I'm not watching anymore and missed it - I like winning. Only heard the song once and it didn't impress me, but then our contributions rarely do. Except The Ark, and they got us bumped into semifinals (which, coincidentally, was when I stopped watching ( Read more... )

I've managed to avoid Eurovision completely this year. I AM SO HAPPY ABOUT THAT, YOU HAVE NO IDEA. I effing loathe it and all its works.

Do you know the only thing I hate more than Eurovsion? Heatwaves. Except that's not true. I hate something more than heatwaves. I hate it when I complain about the heat and people say "don't complain - it might stop!"

And I'm like "THAT IS WHAT I WANT. WERE YOU NOT LISTENING TO ME JUST NOW?"

Sorry. It's very warm here AND I AM CRANKY.

Because you wouldn't have guessed that if I hadn't told you, eh?

There is a reason I was born this far north. I am genetically ill-equipped to deal with heat. I'm actually a Peacekeeper or something.

But, umm, WELL DONE SWEDEN, and I hope you are enjoying the heat, at least.

Aww, I guess I see where you're coming from cause once upon a time I hated it too, but then it turned into this kitschy love-to-mock-it thing and now I just have the warmest fondest feelings for it. It's just such a cute concept! It's like the Olympics but even more ridiculous to the point where people actually REALIZE it's ridiculous and yet go for it anyway! And I love that it's just us in Europe, like our own little private joke.

LOL, I actually embrace the heat too, mostly because it means being able to not wear socks and I like being barefoot. Sides, it's like 2 months a year, TOPS, and the upside is the weather doesn't make me want to lie in bed and sleep and stare at the ceiling all day.
But yeah, being a natural born Swede I am NOT equipped to deal with heat, so if it actually gets super-hot and not just slightly toasty then I'm all for the complaining. Hell, I'm Swedish, I'm ALWAYS for complaining - it's our national pasttime.

Norway lost :( Like last place. But that's okay, we also hold the record for most zero points finishes, so we have something going for us :D

But congrats! :D

Aww. :( I usually like Norway's songs, but they tend to be of the quiet/sane/non-ridiculous kind and those have a hard time standing out in the sea of crazy of everyone else. But it's always hard predicting who'll win, sometimes it feels like they're just doing a lottery.

:O I completly missed it too! I stopped watching bc good songs kept losing to really crap ones bc of certain nations only voting on their neighbouring countrys. But Sweden doesnt have Votingfriends apart from Norway sometimes so Im glad to see they sorta fixed the voting. So YAY Sweden! I might actually watch the show on the internet because now Im curious!

What makes the ESC even more dorkier is that it was invented to bring the European nations closer to each other after WW2, so basically it's a political move, which is hilarious! What is even more hilarious is that it actually works! It doesnt do much for the western countrys anymore because seriously if we become even more friendly we should just get married but it still does wonders in the Eastern-European nations :)

Actually we usually have some support from Denmark and Findland too, maybe sometimes Iceland, aka the Nordic Crew (no one calls us that, but they should!). And yeah there's a lot of neighbor-voting but I think it evens out mostly - if it really was that unbalanced then whole groups of countries (like Scandinavia) wouldn't win ever.

And yeah, I know! It's the cutest and most adorable idea ever! It's like those team-building trips that companies take, but with WHOLE COUNTRIES. Who even thought of that?! So cuuuute.
