Also, Tom/Ann is my new OTP, I don't care how wrong it is - IT NEEDS TO HAPPEN. Why haven't I seen this before?
Pretty much my thoughts! I think before it was because most of their interaction has been Tom being borderline (or outright) creepy and Ann being all "urgh go away stupid person." The positive interaction was nice and kind of set off shipping signals.
except for Leslie being cringingly Michael Scott-ish for a bit in the middle
Yeah, that was weird - they sort of did that last episode as well. Then again, they've always had her get a little aggressive at the exact wrong time, but it gets annoying. If we're supposed to believe that she'd be asked to run for city council, she should have the self control you sort of need to have to run for city council. Although I do think her speech at the end was good - risky, but good.
Yeah I guess, I don't really feel like they've had that much interaction at all though? Not in later episodes, atleast. But yeah, those scenes set off my shipper-alarms in a big way, they would be so much fuuuun together.
Mm, for me it's not so much about credibility in running for office, because I watch The Daily Show/The Colbert Report and see the weekly highlights of the people running for PRESIDENT (Newt Gingrich wants to build a colony on the MOON, for crying out loud! Mitt Romney thinks 10k is a reasonable amount of money for a casual bet!) and basically there is no amount of crazy I wouldn't find believable. But yeah, it does get really annoying and they only juuuust saved it by having that guy be a jerk and then Ben punching him and Leslie standing up for him.
Yeah. In other episodes, she's done it to people who were completely undeserving; and even here, yeah, the guy was a jerk and out of line but he might actually have changed his mind about her, or come close, had she not pressed him about voting. She had him; but she made the mistake of letting him know he'd basically been had. But the Ben punch was, as she put it, awesome. And kind of hot.

Fair enough.
