a/n: Set during S4. Makes use of a bit of hunter information revealed in S6. Written for my spn_30snapshots table, prompt #19, and for joweek on tumblr. Beta by maerhys.

Summary: She knows this isn't the worst thing she'll ever face.

I loved the contrasting imagery. I could picture everything clearly. And I loved your characterization of Jo. You made me love her even more.

Jo. :( I keep missing her more the farther we get from Abandon All Hope. Sigh. (The good news/bad news is Alona Tal's new series got picked up by the CW, which makes me happy, it sounds interesting. The bad news is...maybe she won't be available for any guest appearances on spn in S8.)

Hey bb: this is great. I loved that glimpse into the possibility of Rufus and Jo as a hunting team that we got in Good God Y'all, and reading this just makes me wtf? even more at the waste of characters who could be so useful if they were woven in and out of the brothers' story. I can see the reasons why Ellen and Jo were killed off but sorry: I will never see why they did it with Rufus!

I love the juxtaposition of Jo's skill and hunter smarts with the glimpse of twenty-something girl via the "Ew, gross" line.

Thank you for the fabulous comment! I don't think I'll ever be okay with the removal of Rufus or the Harvelles, so much potential. Sigh. Writing them is really fun, though, and I like writing Jo's set of contrasts, having her slowly get more seasoned.

Great snapshot, BB! Loved this, especially: Before she climbed down through the sewer access hatch and went down the ladder, Jo had considered calling her mom, just because. Just in case, one last time. But she didn't--better if she just made damn sure it wasn't necessary to call. <3

Aw! A tender case!fic that gives Jo a shot at a future of her own. So much of Jo!fic involves getting her with one of the Winchesters or another character. Rufus is a perfect character to mentor her. Very awesome, and Jo's mix of innocence and toughness comes through perfectly. Love it!

So much untapped potential in Jo--hunter Jo fics are this whole extra playground that doesn't get enough fic written about it. I so loved Rufus and Jo's dynamic in the episode they had together (and so heartbroken spn didn't choose to do any more with that mentor-jr hunter friendship.) She is a mix of innocence/idealism and world-weariness and determined to prove herself and also naturally talented. Oh, Jo.
