thespatz was right, the back half of Mag7 season 2 is awesome. The show is uneven but much smarter than it looks, and at moments it's outright great, truly gritty, or atmospheric, or heartclenchy even though it isn't wanting to go too dark and stays mosty in the escapist mode. Also some truly incredible performances, from the leads and the guest stars ( Read more... )

A few recs! Belated and too-few, sorry!

I was going to link you to these anyway, since they're some of my favorite pieces, but since you really like Mary and Nathan, I bet you'll like them even more: Tea and Sympathy. The same author (J. Brooks, who writes great plotty gen in general; you can find her fic listed on this page) also wrote a sequel-ish story called Inkslingers, which is ground-rolling levels of funny -- Mary hurts herself, and dragoons the Seven into helping do the special edition of the newspaper for her while she's out of commission. Really, how hard could that be? (...*giggles*)

I also like Gwyneth Rhys, for very different reasons -- she writes very absorbing, romantic Chris/Vin, if you're in the mood.

Hmm. My links seem to have gone wandering, so that's all I've got for now. You should hit Katie up for some; she's read a lot more than I have.

Oh hey, and another rec for you -- talitha78 made an Ezra-centric vid for Festivids, and it's completely adorable and awesome. I was thrilled, because there are all of about two Mag7 vids out there. (She has it labeled as Ezra/Nathan, and it is, a bit, but it's really a LOT more Ezra/team. ♥)
