a/n: SPN/Batman: The Animated series crossover. SPN set during S4. For B:TAS, for those who are familiar with it, set early during the "Gotham Knights" seasons. Title from Florence + The Machine. Written for halfamoon 2010. Thank you to the awesome mtgat for the beta.

"Oh, you have got to be kidding me." Jo giggled, feeling a little drunk with relief.

Oh man, I love this. Love the idea of Jo confronting the weirdo Gotham baddies that have got to be deceptively mundane in Jo's scheme of things and I love that it hits her with just as much of a gut punch because it still taps into something real.

"I hunt things. Monsters. I mean, not like him. I mean real monsters. Werewolves, vampires, demons." This had to be the most surreal conversation Jo had ever had in her entire life.

You've really pinged what a jarring experience that's got to be for Jo, to the point of just absurdity. And gaah, Jo and the inside of her head

It was fascinating getting to put Jo through that kind of psychological torment/test. BTAS did that to Babs, in fact, with the Scarecrow. Gut wrenching ep. And it seemed right that if I drop an SPN character into Gotham, of course the DC fear-based villain would be involved, and a scarecrow to boot.
