Super-duper beta reading skills provided by innie_darling. I'm rather proud of the title. *g* And am very glad my recipient and a lot of other people enjoyed the story. Especially given that as soon as I got the ( Read more... )

Darn you. I was never a Calvin/ Susie shipper until I read your story. Now I can't see how I missed all the clues Watterson provided. This was a great story! This was really well done. :)

Hee, thank you!

Calvin so obviously had a crush, and Watterson in fact did confirm that they had a "latent crush" on each other.

I don't recall it being especially heavy-handed (in fact, Wikipedia states that Watterston deliberately tuned it down), but I always got the impression that Calvin and Susie were sort of intended to be a future Item.

Me, I've always liked the ambiguity of Hobbes, and I love the idea of an adult Calvin still having Hobbes around. (Then there's the whole Fight Club == Calvin & Hobbes future-fic thing...)

Watterson later did say that he intended that they had a "latent crush" on each other. I always thought it was pretty obvious.

The ambiguity of Hobbes is fun. The series was full of things were, okay, Calvin might've done that himself...but maybe he didn't. As opposed to the fantasy sequences like Spaceman Spiff, where it seems clear it's all in his head.
