Two Targets (because I wanted the bonus disk) and then a Best Buy later, I got my Supernatural S4 DVD's (no bonus disk -- *stomp!* -- but some kind of a holographic cover

Haha. True. I think all store chains are keeping less stock these days due to the economy. Best Buy being dedicated to electronics, I guess they would have more DVD's.
Hopefully you'll have the time to watch the rest eventually. I think you'd remain interested -- things just get more complex with each season, but never in a way where the mytharc gets incomprehensible and too bulky.
I keep hearing that Misha delivered that last line a little oddly, it's a pity, 'cause it's the scene I was looking forward to the most... But yeah, just the thought that it said that makes me happy :D
Also, just watched the 'On the head of a pin' deleted scene, and I'm super happy they left it out ^^' That 'and your brother too' doesn't really sit well with me. I know, I'm bordering on obsessive Dean/Cas fangirling, but I really want to keep thinking that, at least in season 4, Castiel has been all about Dean, and not necessarily about Sam. ♥
Having now seen that deleted scene, I tell you, I made a little noise of happiness, because my fanon Castiel is very taken with the bond between Sam and Dean, and Sam is important, even if it's via Dean. But Dean loves Sam, ergo Sam is relevant to Castiel's interests.
Beyond that, that deleted scene was a freakin' gift to Dean/Castiel shippers. It's what we got in canon, only MORESO. Mucho intense. Yay.
I have some thoughts about it but will post about it later.
But that's the famous "Kripke read the line how he wanted and then Misha repeated it for him" line! It was in an interview, and I've been dying to see it ever since! Apparently it's a big no no for directors to come right out and ask for a specific reading, but Misha wasn't getting the line (he couldn't place it in the context of his character) so he offered Kripke to simply repeat whatever he wanted, and Kripke was all "srsly?? yay!" and so he delivered it how it was asked, still finding it odd, and then felt vindicated when it was cut out XD
Oh, interesting. Wonder what Kripke was picturing in his head -- I assume it was supposed to be a funny kind of moment.
Yeah, it doesn't really work, and the exchange itself may be too much tell, but it is really lovely to have it now as background canon/context, that this was in Castiel's thinking, and how much Dean rubbed off on him (oops, I'm sorry, did that sound dirty?).
Not only that, but a fan asked him at Vancon why Castiel rebelled, and he instantly replied "Because he didn't want to lose Dean's friendship", and she was all \O/ because she's a D/C shipper but wanted a serious answer, not a tangent on slash the way he tends to do, and, and, and! He didn't want to lose Dean's friendship, Misha says so!!

I still haven't watched any SPN past S1, but it's not for lack of desire.
