I love that detail. Though apparently the shapeshifters get their thoughts too, but probably not that quickly.
“Aw, Bill, don't you worry none. You'll still get the satisfaction of cleaning that thing's remains out of our place.”
“What?” His voice went low and sharp in her ear.
Ellen took in a long, deep breath and let it out. “It came here. I shot it. There's a big mess. I'm leavin' most of it for you, honey.”
Heh! As Buffy would say, the men dig the graves and the women birth the babies :D

That's okay, I can hand-wave an explanation -- Bill hadn't had much direct confrontation with shapeshifters, only knew about them. So he was lacking a few pertinent details. *koff* Yeah! I meant to do that!
Thanks! Yep, Bill gets to do the clean-up, Ellen does the slayage this time (I think a lot of their marriage, it was the other way around, and she spent a lot of time cleaning blood off her husband and stitching him up).
