From looking at the website http://www.whatsami-ki.com/ it sounds like they are a designer mutt, simply because of the ridiculous claims that they are not "yippy, mean, aggressive, tinklers, or territorial." ... Any reputable breeder should realize that it depends on the dog and their upbringing.

Also, they are not recognized by the AKC, even though the website above lists an "official standard"

AKC doesn't mean much, though. There are a LOT of legitimate dog breeds that aren't yet recognized by them.

However, I'd have to agree that it sounds like the "Mi-Ki" is a heinz-57 designer minimutt.

That's true. I just thought that since the website listed has information about "show coats" and the "official standard," it was trying to represent it as an AKC-recognized breed. You are right though, there are definitely breeds that aren't AKC.

Yeah, I thought about the AKC thing first but I remembered Neopolaten Mastiffs were just recognized like 2 years ago or so.

I figured they were but I decided I'd give them a benefit of a doubt. And, wow, there's pretty obvious stuff I didn't catch but I've been running on like no sleep lately. I really wish my friend found what she was looking for on petfinder =/ Hopefully she'll keep checking.

Ummm... on dogbreedinfo, it states that a woman bred a bunch of mutts together in 1993, and called them MiKis....

Oh, come onnnnn! All dog breeds had to start SOMEWHERE! "hybrids" are just the start of a NEW breed! It's the same thing!!!!!
