What, like the "blatent" mis-spelling of blatant? The odd use of "atypical"? The claim that geishas are the same as Paris Hilton, only Japanese?

I stopped reading after that.

Well I was specifically pointing out the misspelling of "blatant," but those others are good too.

The lack of consistent spelling rules and pronunciation. I have problems with a lot of a/e spelling myself.

Well, with the wide range of accents and dialects that English encompasses, I seriously doubt there is any hope for this particular type of error, no matter how English is "rationalized."

Most people I know would pronounce the word /blāt·ənt/, which doesn't give any clue whatsoever whether the last vowel should be "e" or "a."
Spelling in English is difficult because English is an acquisitive language; this same feature give English its phenomenal richness and depth. To "fix" that really would be like fixing a puppy: The language would be emasculated.
