Like okay maybe the SERIES ITSELF did not live up to this standard! (Though I did love it)

Maybe even the original movies didn't!

But with Rebuild, the promise has been fulfilled

Okay so this sounds like a much saner way to finally get into this thing.

I'd definitely say so; it's streamlined, and the story they're telling seems tuned up (to me, anyway!) from the original series.

I liked Shinji. I was rooting for the guy all the way through. And then The End of Evangelion almost ruined it all for me.

I say "almost" because I keep reading Sadamoto's manga, and stuck with Angelic Days for a good while, but... I don't think I want to be sucked back in. XD;

Hahaha, so did I, really! |D And the stuff that made me like him in the series is still definitely in Rebuild. They just, well, also give him a sort of TTGL moment at one point in 2.0 lololol

Also get sucked back in it's totally worth it okay

Ah ha ha, I... have to confess, I haven't seen TTGL... I-I just fell out of the digi-sub habit for the most part and there was always other things with which to occupy my time pleasedontkillme.

And I can never fully give up on something that gave us such great PWP yuri pairings as Eva did (and even one or two that seem feasible!) so, maybe down the road I'll go looking for Rebuild... XD;

... So as someone who just watched Evangelion this very month and actually liked seeing the breakdown happen, how is 2.0 different than canon? Or should I just try to DL and see for myself?

It's basically--well okay there's going to be four of these Rebuild movies. Two are out (1.0, aka 1.11--the latter being the Blu-Ray version that has a little extra footage, like three minutes I think--and 2.0). The first Rebuild is basically recap of the first few episodes of the series with a few . . . interesting tweaks here and there, and redone, supahpretty animation. 2.0 is where the story starts to diverge a lot more, and while I agree that the TV series is still pretty damn cool, I really like the new spin that Rebuild is putting on things. So yeah, I'd totally recommend checkin' it out \o/
