Ummm, hello? Oh yea, you were an infant or so the last time Conservatives were in power. I was at least in grade school when I remember current events and talking about Canadian politics in elementary social studies class.

Remember Mulroney? The person who caused the airbus scandals, bringing in the GST, signing Canada away to this NAFTA BS?

I would give Conservatives a chance if Stockwell Day were still the actual head of the party but we're talking about Stephen Harper of the Alliance leading the pack... or perhaps you agree with his personal beliefs of pro-choice and other biased hullabaloo?

One doesn't have to necesarily side with ALL of his beliefs to side with his platform. For one, he's not going to be moving backwards on the Right to Choose. The liberals had it all and they fucked it up. To be honest, I'm actually impressed by Paul Martin's inaptitude when it came to being a politician. Our economy is strong, unemployment is at the lowest it's been in decades, yet he still managed to fuck it up for him and his party. Harper's got the right idea about a lot of things, in my opinion. As a supporter of NAFTA (and GATT, and free trade in general for that matter), your point doesn't hit home with me about that. He may have brought the GST but the liberals have had 12 years to do away with it and they haven't - because it's a cashcow for the money-wasting libs. Banning guns that are already banned? Hah. 12 years to fix health care and nothing to show for it. A lack of real investment in post-secondary. Not to mention that they starved our provinces of our cash and tried to keep it all at the federal level. And trying to ( ... )

Look, I never said that Paul Martin was a winner either. I was shocked when the election went through last time that Chretien stepped down and Paul Martin went in. If it weren't for Martin's ass kissing and partially apathetic mindset, yesterday's votes wouldn't have been easily swayed over to the Conservative's end in this election ( ... )

Hey, don't look at me. Everyone at my workplace including my family voted Liberal.

Having Stephen Harper and the Conservatives in Canada is just has horrible as having Dubya & the Repubs in the US... god, I wonder if moving back to Asia is a viable option?

Pah... god the moronic half of BC that's closer to the Prairies if you ask me swayed the provincial trend. If you notice Victoria and Vancouver region, I believe the majority were Liberals. IMHO, that's where the majority of the BC population is but it's the widely spreaded out rednecks that cover more mass in the northern and eastern half of BC (read: rundown towns who don't understand metropolitan trends) who have the tiny populations both more riding counts due to the land coverage. This is almost just as horrible as the college electoral process used in the US ( ... )
