Here I am again, writing random fanfiction blurbs, when other people here are writing things so much more meaningful.
Ah what the heck. I mainly just need an outlet for the fangirlism of this game. Maybe I should submit these drabbles into fanfic sites.
Set anywhere within or after the game. There are spoilers if you squint hard enough, other than the general situation of the game (like the identities/presence of certain characters).
Title: Ignorance is Not Bliss
Series: Apollo Justice
Rating: G
It was a lazy afternoon, most likely a Thursday, because Thursdays were the days that Trucy Wright felt were lazy afternoons. That was why she was so determined to practice a new trick and insisted that her "co-worker", Apollo Justice, sit down and be the judge.
Needless to say, Apollo was annoyed. He had recently found a shelf of law books hiding inside the main office (which he had broken into on a day that the owner of said office was out buying snacks for his daughter), and to be honest, he wanted to start cracking on them. He thought that he might as well brush up on his knowledge during his off-hours. It was better than disturbing everyone, practicing his Chords of Steel.
However, Trucy had pouted, and had even successfully put on what was popularly known as the puppy-dog face. Unfortunately for her, it was a face that Apollo was immune to. Unfortunately for him, immune or not, her father had seen and practically forced Apollo to do it, anyway.
Then again, he felt that Trucy would have moved on to hitting him with her cane to make him submit. And it was easier to just agree with the girl's father than to wait for it to come to that.
"What about this then, Polly?" Trucy called out.
He wrinkled his nose at the nickname, but made no move to correct her. Instead, he began to turn his head in her direction, just in time for the young magician to yelp as a rain of cards fell all about her.
Trucy tried to cover her head, even knocking off her silk hat. Apollo raised an eyebrow and found a snort coming out of his throat. And finally, he laughed despite himself. It was just so adorable, he thought. And abruptly, he stopped when he realized what he was doing.
"Great..." Apollo muttered to himself. "Did I really just think that Trucy was cute?"
"Did you say something?"
Apollo glanced across the table and noted that his former idol and unofficial mentor (as well as the aforementioned sap who had forced Apollo into this mental torture), Phoenix Wright, had just sat down with a cup of coffee.
"What's on your mind, Apollo?" he asked with that odd smile he liked to wear.
Apollo scowled, leaning his head into his hand with a mutter, "Nothing."
"If you say so then," the man murmured, offhandedly, taking a sip of his drink.
The very calmness and disinterest annoyed Apollo. He wondered for a moment how healthy it would be to repeat what he had muttered earlier just to surprise his companion. But then, he supposed there was no harm. And it would be fun to perhaps say something that would even slightly affect the man.
"If you must know... I just thought for a second that Trucy was cute-... Y-yow!"
Apollo leapt from the bright red chair, narrowly avoiding the hot spray. Phoenix wiped at his mouth, his eyes wide with a mix of emotions that Apollo could not decipher. So much for only slightly affecting him.
"You.. thought... what about T-Trucy?"
"Just wait, old man!" Apollo held up his hands. He ignored the ex-attorney's peeved look (and the way he mouthed "old man??" in utter disdain) as he explained himself, "I know you're upset because she's your daughter..."
Before he could explain himself further (he was ready to go into a discussion about how thinking something was 'cute' was only an opinion and not necessarily anything more than that), he held himself back, especially after he glanced again at the look on Phoenix Wright's face.
Phoenix gaped at him a little longer, "Because.. she's..." Then he suddenly nodded. "Yes, yes, that's right. Trucy is my daughter," and the older man put on a glare. "So you should stay away from her if you knew what was good for you!"
The intonation bothered him and he couldn't help feeling there was something fishy about it. Apollo looked him over, and finally folded his arms, "Mr. Wright, are you making fun of me?"
"No, I am not!"
"Then what are you not saying?"
"Nothing. Absolutely nothing," Phoenix cursed the slight twitch he felt at the corner of his mouth.
Apollo studied him intently, and glanced down at his bracelet. He gave the older man a smirk, "You're hiding something. And I'm sure I can find out what."
"Oh, well now, look at the time! I'd better get back to work then...!"
"Huh?! What work?! It's two in the afternoon!!"
But the man was already halfway out the door, "Very confidential, Apollo, I'm afraid I can't tell you. You understand, don't you? I'll see you then! Take care of Trucy for me!"
"Coward!!" Apollo called after him.
"See you later, Daddy!" Trucy called as well after picking up the last card. "Don't be a stranger!"
As the man made his escape, Apollo sat back down with a sigh. He glanced up in time for Trucy to try the trick again, and somewhat succeeding this time.
"Hey! That worked, but I think I need a little more flair! What do you think, Apollo?"
"Uh huh, right," Apollo nodded absentmindedly.
She performed the trick again while Apollo pondered to himself, as he had many times before, about the man's strangeness. Finally, he shook his head, picked up the forgotten coffee, and told himself to just forget it. He decided he would probably never understand the mind of Phoenix Wright. And perhaps it would be better for his sanity if he never did.
Is there a
31_days theme coming up where I can post it over as well? lol
