However, a series of events have caused their lives to cross, with all the complications of their arrangements and their own emotions, will their new-found connection be of any help with their already growing complicated lives?
Where are you?
She read and sighed. She looked around for her things and quickly typed a reply.
I’m in the music room. I’ll meet you at the gates?
She pressed send and hurried to collect her things. Just as she was covering the piano keys, she felt someone enter the room.
“Hey.” She greeted as she recognized who it was.
“Let’s go.” Kyuhyun said, turning to face the door again.
---
“She’s hot.” Kyuhyun heard the customer she was serving comment. He was referring to Victoria who had just finished serving them their drinks.
His friends just snickered and took a drink of their wine. Kyuhyun groaned inwardly at what he heard.
Just then, Seohyun approached the platform to perform her first set.
“watch.” One of the males said, index finger slyly pointing to Seohyun who was now fixing the chords in front of her.
“oh, she’s cute.” The tallest guy commented.
“i wonder if she has a boyfriend.”
“I bet she does. But what does it matter anyway. Girls are the same. Just buy her a drink, and you’re good to go.” The guy with a really greasy smile said.
Kyuhyun felt his expression change as he finished writing the group’s order. He gave a hidden glare to the guy who gave the last comment before turning to leave.
---
Seohyun finished her set, earning a long applause from everyone in the place. She gave a 90 degrees bow and stepped off the stage to grab some water.
“Thanks oppa.” She said to Ryeowook as the barista gave her a glass of water to drink.
Victoria scooted beside her and murmured to her,
“Those guys over that table are real perverts. Don’t go near that table.” She murmured. “Donghae said they’d been bugging him of your name. They had been urging Donghae to make me serve them too, no way!”
Seohyun took a glance of the group and turned back to Victoria.
“Seems like they’re having there own set of fun, unnie. Let them be.”
“Such low life.” Donghae huffed as he stood close to the 2 girls.
Seohyun just snickered a bit and turned to the bar to ask for another glass.
---
“Thank you.” Jessica murmured as Hankyung draped a coat over her shoulders.
“So, how are things going in Korea. Got any news?” Hankyung asked carefully.
“My sister’s only telling me good things. It’s making me more worried.”
“Do you want me to contact Heechul hyung? Just in case he could do something” He offered.
She shaked her head silently, “I’m pretty sure he’s already helping. I don’t want to force anything on him.” She sighed. “It’s just my parents now anyway, at least I think so. His parents have already stopped getting involved.”
“Things would get better soon. Don’t worry. Krystal’s not alone.” He comforted, snaking an arm around the waist of the petite girl.
---
Seohyun shrieked as she felt an arm snake around her waist. She was standing by the bar, waiting for her next set. Everyone else was busy with the customers who keep coming. Ryeowook stood the closest to her but was distracted by the glasses he was wiping.
She looked over her shoulders to check who it was and saw an unfamiliar face.
“I’m sorry.” She said, voice just loud enough for the stranger to hear. She tried to get out of the guy’s arms but felt the guy not flinch a bit. “You must have mistaken me for someone else.” She said, voice showing a slight hint of nervousness but showing a bit more conviction.
“I’m pretty sure these arms are around the correct waist.” He said,
She felt her heart thump louder, her hands went sweaty as she tried to compose herself, not wanting to attract any attention.
“I’m p-“ Seohyun did not get to finish as she felt the arms leave her, hearing a loud “ack” just a second later. She turned her head and recognized Kyuhyun, gripping tightly on the customers arm, bending it like an expert martial artist with.
The guy’s face showed pain, but Kyuhyun did not flinch or hesitate one bit. He just stared straight on the man, putting greater force on what he was doing.
His face showed anger, or maybe just displease. Seohyun can’t seem to decipher what emotion his face was showing. But definitely, it was the first time she saw it.
Even during that time when he almost got in a brawl with Zhoumi, his face is a lot scarier and more serious than that.
Her righteous mind told her to do something, stop him before the manager or anyone else’s attention gets caught. But somehow, her feet just stayed on its place. Her right hand raised some inches but didn’t really do anything to show anything she wants to say. And her throat ran dry, maybe because of the scary man from earlier, or the sudden turn of events. She just stayed there, not doing anything as if in a trance until he heard him speak.
“Are you okay?” Kyuhyun asked. Seohyun found his voice sounded so strong yet comforting, she almost felt safe despite the situation they were in.
It took her a couple of minutes before she was able to reply.
“yes.” She said softly.
“Let go else you’ll lose your job.” The man warned. Seohyun heard him, and she immediately grew worried, inching forward towards them.
But Kyuhyun did not move the slightest, even showing greater anger on his face, if it was even possible.
“I wouldn’t be bothered if your friends rush here, and find you in tears calling for help.”
The man showed obvious anger, irritation but Kyuhyun’s strong grip did not make him flinch one bit. He continued to inflict pain on him for a couple of minutes until he loosened little by little, causing the man to tumble down. By that time, Ryeowook had already made his way towards them and gave Seohyun a glass of water, understanding everything which had happened.
“Thanks.” Seohyun murmured, giving back the glass of water she just drank to Ryeowook. She glanced at Kyuhyun, feeling thankful yet awkward.
The man hurried away. Kyuhyun picked up the towel he dropped when he rushed to them earlier.
“Thanks.” She murmured, looking down her feet. She had inched closer to him, careful that no one else’s attention gets caught. Luckily, they were in the secluded part of the place. During the whole drama, only Ryeowook and Victoria noticed. Victoria rushing to them after everything had ended.
“Get your things. I’ll bring you home.” Kyuhyun said, not even catching her eyes. He walked away and Seohyun just followed him with her eyes.
“Are you okay?” Victoria asked worriedly.
Seohyun nodded, glancing shortly at the Chinese girl and looking back to continue watching Kyuhyun who had now gone back to cleaning a table just emptied by some customers.
“Is he mad?” She thought to herself, noting how serious he looked. She bit the insides of her mouth, feeling worried about what Kyuhyun was thinking and feeling.
---
“So what do you think?” Heechul asked, lounging back to the chair in front of his dad’s office table.
“Are you serious about this?” Mr. Kim asked.
“Just say yes if you agree.” He groaned.
“What assurance do I have that you’d actually enter in such a contract with me?”
“None.” Heechul said confidently. “You don’t have a single assurance that I don’t end up running away from you or this company. But what does that change? This is the first time I ever put effort or at least show interest in anything you’re doing. It’s the first time I actually read what your company sells. At least now, you could say that your son helped you with something.”
Mr. Kim looked at the folder in front of him. It’s a project proposal for the expansion he had been eyeing. Heechul made it, and if his secretary was accurate, it was a proposal Heechul did for around a week.
“But you know my condition, right? You can’t take anything back. Do your part and I won’t cause trouble. Even if I become a no show, you already have that paper, that’s all you could get from me anyway.” Heechul said, concluding. He spoke with much conviction, confidence but much lack of interest. He stood up when his dad did not say anything and walked out the room.
Heechul groaned just as the door closed behind him. He cursed on Hankyung and Jessica, smiling to himself not even half a minute later.
---
Seohyun inched closer to Kyuhyun, her arms unconsciously wrapping tighter around Kyuhyun’s. Her head settled on Kyuhyun’s shoulder, moving to make herself more comfortable by his neck. Kyuhyun just watched her. She was far deep in sleep. She fell asleep a few minutes after they got comfortable on the bus seat, 2 rows from the back. Seohyun sat by the window, Kyuhyun sat near the aisle like they always do.
The bus bounced and bumped continuously and when the bus suddenly braked, he instinctively used his free hand to hold Seohyun’s head, to keep it rested by his shoulder. He turned his head to see her groaning softly but still unaffected. He continued supporting her head with his hand.
Kyuhyun marvelled with how peaceful she looked. She looks tired, but somehow, her face did not show any trouble similar to what he shows when he’s the one deep into sleep running bad dreams. He noticed the dark circles that have formed under her eyes, his thumb unconsciously tracing it. It wasn’t there before. He was sure as he had been close to her a couple of times before. He realized what his finger was doing and he pulled back, turning his head away from watching her. Just then, the snow started falling outside the window. He distracted himself, watching the white snow out the window. But his head just kept turning to watch her.
“A troublesome person who’d slowly grow on you.” Kyuhyun thought to himself as he took one last glance of Seohyun and closed his eyes to rest.
---
Seohyun felt air by her forehead. Her eyes slowly fluttered open and suddenly got a shock with her situation. She noticed how she had wrapped her arms around his. Her head was resting on his shoulder, her forehead touching just the side of his lips, her nose by his chin. She felt herself choke and tried to pull back. But just then, she noticed his scent. He smelled exactly like his bed, she recognized as she did sleep on it for a couple of months. Just then, she realized how much she missed being close with him, or at least being around him.
She closed her eyes again as she tried to take his scent in a last time and she carefully pulled away. She slowly unwrapped her arms from him and hesitantly inched farther from him.
