She wore Karolina's bracelet on her wrist, letting the unfamiliar weight pull her arm down. She never took it off.
She spent the first night Karolina was gone sleeping in the alien girl's room, after crying herself into slumber. The second night, she returned to her own room, but she took Karolina's pillow with her, and she slept in one of her departed friend's shirts.
The bracelet seemed to get heavier with every passing day, as the scent of Karolina faded from her things. It became Nico's anchor, holding her to the world when she carefully packed Karolina's things away. She'd want them when she came back.
