A pair of arms wrapped around Celeste, and the telepath leaned back, turning her head to look at Pat. “How did you get through the Skrull blockaid?” she asked.

The Scarlet Spider tugged his mask off, pressing his lips to Celeste’s temple. “Ancient Chinese secret,” he said. “You can read my mind to find out.”

“I already did,” Celeste admitted. “I scan everyone. Helps keep out Skrull infiltrators.” She sighed softly, closing her eyes as Pat held her tighter. He made her feel less alone. He understood what it was to have been part of a many who were one, and to have lost that connection. It might not exactly be love, but it was a real connection. “Tell me it’s going to be okay,” she whispered.

“Yes. Everything will be alright,” Pat murmured.

Celeste sighed, turning around in Pat’s arms and resting her head on his chest. He stroked her hair gently, making soothing noises and he wrapped one of the silver streaks around his fingers.

“I won’t let anything happen to you,” Pat told her. “I love you.”

“I know.”
