“Dude, Karolina is gonna kill you when we get back,” Victor said, a laugh creeping into his voice.
“What are you doing here?” Xavin demanded.
“Rescuing you.” There was an unspoken ‘obviously’ in there, of course. “Like anyone was going to give the Majesdanes the chance to cut your head off and stick it on a pike or something.”
“Why?”
“Because you’re family. You’re a big pain in the ass, but believe it or not, we all missed you.” He looked at Xavin with narrowed eyes and added, “Tell no one I said that.”
“My lips are sealed,” Xavin assured him dryly. “How did you get here?”
“Caught a ride with Teddy and his friends. You don’t mind if we do a little detour to help them out, do you?”
“Not at all.” Xavin paused, then asked, “Family, are we.”
“Yup. Problem?”
“I think I can live with it,” the Skrull admitted.
