It was the fact that he was standing still that gave away the fact that he wasn't Bart Allen. Bart had yet to master the art of actually standing still. Even when Bart looked like he was standing still, he wasn't. It was one of those things Conner had picked up on.
"What are you doing here?" Conner snapped, ready in an instant to do horrible things to this clone of his friend, this thing that had hurt Bart.
A part of Conner -- that nasty part that lurked in the darkness behind his eys and sounded frighteningly like Luthor -- pointed out the irony of this.
It made Conner feel sick.
"Bart thought you might want someone to talk to," the clone said, yawning as he peered around the farm yard. "After what happened with Luthor."
"Riiight. I'm supposed to believe that Bart sent a villain -- his archnemisis -- to talk to me." Conner growled, his hands clenching into fists. He was hovering almost an inch above the ground, ready to fight the intruder.
"Am I a villain?" Thaddeus asked. "Shall I spend my life being defined by the will of my creator?" He tapped his chin and looked at Conner with unblinking yellow eyes. "It's been... yes, about two years since I acted against anyone. Why start with you?"
"... point taken." Conner said slowly.
"Then you really are smarter than you look." Thaddeus said with a nasty smirk. It seemed to wrong to Conner to see that expression on what was, essentially, Bart's face. It wasn't a Bart expression. "You know, for someone with the attention span of a gnat, Bart can be rather tenacious."
"Don't you talk about him like that." Conner snapped.
"Why not? I think I, of all people, should be able to make judgements about my genetic original."
"You are not Bart."
"And you are not Superman. Or Luthor." Thaddeus said with a smirk.
