“I’m sorry that took so long,” Dorrek murmured as the audience hall was emptied. “I appreciated the special effects, by the way.”
William gave Dorrek a look that the emperor now recognized as his ‘I’m trying very hard to keep a straight face’ look. “Giving you the sparkles seemed appropriate,” he said, his lips twitching slightly.
“What is it?” Dorrek asked, narrowing his eyes slightly. William patted his hand and shook his head, standing up and straightening his tunic.
“We’ve got an hour before that meeting that you told me we absolutely have to go to,” he said. “We need to get ready.”
