“Did I ever tell you who the first superhero I met was?” Billy asked softly as he and Teddy watched the Thunderbolts on the news.
“Speedball,” Teddy replied, his fingers wrapped around Billy’s.
“Speedball.” Billy sighed. “I don’t even remember what was going on. Some kind of accident on the George Washington Bridge. I was on a school bus, and traffic was stopped, and we all had to get off. And he was right there. He laughed and smiled and told really awful jokes, and he made us laugh.” Billy swallowed hard as he watched Penance pound on someone who had refused to register. “It was great.”
