“God… Meg, when did we become mainstream?” Tommy asked, clearly disturbed by the revelation that had just sunk into his brain. It made Megan giggle to think that even after all these years, the speedster still answered to ‘Tommy’, and would probably insisted on being Tommy for years to come.
“I think it was after you won your lawsuit,” Megan replied. “Why?”
“Dunno. It’s just… weird.” He stared out the window pensively. “I’m respectable.” He wrinkled his nose. “I never wanted to be respectable. I was cool.”
“You’re still cool. But there’s a certain amount of protection in respectability.” Megan rested one hand lightly on her swollen belly. “People leave Franklin Richards alone because his parents are respectable. Respectable people don’t get hunted down by the government and stuff.”
Tommy sighed softly, resting his forehead against the window and looking down at the city. “So… this is what growing up is like.”
