Teddy Altman's eyes were the first thing Billy Kaplan had noticed about him. The shape shifter had been doing his chameleon impression while he and Iron Lad had been waiting to begin their first training session. Billy had been the third to arrive (Eli didn't show up for another thirty minutes), and he'd though Iron Lad was alone.
Then he'd pointed behind Billy, and Billy had turned and found himself looking into a pair of pale blue eyes.
Just the eyes. The rest of him was still camouflaged.
To say Billy had been startled was an understatement.
To say Billy had screamed like a girl and tripped over his own feet would have been far more accurate.
While Iron Lad had laughed himself sick, Teddy had reverted to what Billy regarded as his normal form. He had helped Billy up with an apology on his lips. His eyes were filled with warmth and compassion. Billy knew he could drown in those eyes.
