Title: That Damn MPreg Part 10: What to Expect when You're Expecting
Universe: Young Avengers
Rating: PG
Summery: See? I haven't abandoned TDMP! I've just been distracted by shiny things. Anyway, here's Chapter 10, featuring Kl'rt the Super-Skrull.
Billy was ignoring Kl'rt.
Kl'rt was eyeing Billy like he expected the human to explode at any moment.
Teddy was trying not to yell at both of them.
Truth be told, this was the most peaceful meeting between Kl'rt and Billy ever. Nothing had been blown up yet.
"So you have finally chosen to breed." Kl'rt said. "This is wonderful news. A new heir to the Empire, even one born of union with a human, is always a joyous thing."
"Well, yeah, I guess. But I really don't know... what's going on." Teddy gestured to his growing belly. There was now a very pronounced bulge there.
Kl'rt nodded sagely. "Your education in the ways of our people has been sorely neglected. I look forward to seeing your hatchling properly educated." Kl'rt ignored Billy's muttered 'over my dead body'.
"Okay, so can you explain to my why I'm pregnant? Since I'm a guy?"
"Gender is a concept of lesser races. The Skrull have long since evolved past such things. We take recognizable gender only out of personal preference. Of course, since you are half Kree, this may not be entierly true for you, or for your offspring."
"Yeah, yeah, but what's happening to Teddy?" Billy snapped.
Kl’rt shot Billy a very dark look. “I’m getting to that,” he said through his teeth. “An egg will spend four months gestating within the birthing parent before it is ready to be laid. The shell will be very soft at first, but will harden after a day.”
“Wait a sec,” Teddy said, holding up a hand. “Laid… how?”
“Expelled through a bodily opening. I understand that it is similar to childbirth for the - are you feeling unwell, hatchling?”
“I’m fine,” Teddy squeaked. “Keep going. What happens after the egg is,” he gulped, “laid?”
“The egg must be kept at a steady temperature roughly equal to your natural body temperature. The first day is critical. Any damage to the egg while it is still soft could damage or kill the hatchling within. The egg must be turned every few hours to prevent deformation of the shell as it hardens. The egg will hatch in four months, and the hatchling will need to be fed. Typically, the birthing parent nurses the hatchling, but there are several formulas that can be used as substitutes,” Kl’rt finished quickly, noting the look of horror on Teddy’s face. “The hatchling should be ready for solid foods in two months or so,” he went on, watching Teddy carefully. “Perhaps you should lay down. The changes coming over your body have been known to cause some temporary illness.”
“I’m fine,” Teddy said weakly.
“You mentioned a formula,” Billy said, scribbling in the notebook he’d whipped out. “What’ll we need to make it?
