He's still getting the hang of things. Things that used to take seconds now take whole minutes, even hours. It's a little frustrating. But he's getting used to it.
When things are being particularly difficult, he calls Carol, and she reminds him of all the things he did when he was living in Manchester. The mistakes that seem so silly now, but still make a strange kind of sense.
She teases him about chive sandwiches and shaved heads, about driving off cliffs and Evil Eye (Eddie's in the Honor's Program now), about general cluelessness and slow summer nights were Bart would drive everyone to distraction.
He tells her about Keystone Motors, and about the general stupidity of the adult world, about slowing down. He tells her about Owen and a standing offer to go for drinks that he's thinking of taking his brother up on.
He tells her how much he misses her.
She questions if it's her he really misses, or how things were before.
He admits that he misses the more carefree days of his youth, but mostly he misses her.
Carol laughs and says she misses him too. And that she really misses his hair.
Bart decides to grow his hair out and says he'll come down for Christmas.
