Summary: Billy wonders what he’s gotten himself into this time. Set pre-series.
Billy could almost hear his mother saying “William Christopher Robin Kaplan, what have you gotten yourself into this time?”
Which was, when you thought about it, an excellent question. What had he gotten himself into?
Okay, sure, when Nate - Iron Lad - had approached him outside the ruins of the Avengers Mansion and practically handed him his dream on a silver platter, he’d been thrilled. Who wouldn’t have been? He’d always wanted to be a super-hero.
But his dreams of super-herodom had never included things like trying to train in secret with someone like Eli, who seemed to have a permanent mad-on, especially when it came to Captain America , or dealing with an incredibly embarrassing crush on Teddy, who (thankfully) was totally oblivious.
Not that it was all that bad, once he finally stopped zapping things at random whenever he got upset, and stopped blowing out the nearest lights whenever Teddy did something like bend over or accidentally shape-shift out of his clothes… and oh God hadn’t that been embarrassing…
“Hey, Billy! You wanna go get some pizza or something?” Teddy asked, stuffing his uniform (which Billy had helped make, and which he looked entirely too good in for anyone’s sake) into his backpack. “I found some old Avengers back issues at my comic shop yesterday,” he added.
“Sounds like a plan.”
