He remembers hair the color of the space between stars, so black it seemed to absorb the light. It smelled like sandalwood and spices and vanilla cookies (which she made because he loved the smell of them, which often lead to ruined batches as he would distract her from the baking) and cigarettes. He remembers a smile stained faintly yellow from smoking, which graced her face all too rarely. He remembers the curve of her spine, and how he loved the noises she made.
But he doesn’t remember her. He knows what he’s remembering isn’t now, it’s the past. Another life.
He remembers promising to always be with her, and he intends to keep that promise.
He just has to find her again.
